Why sublimation feels different
Instead of sitting on top of fabric, sublimation ink turns into gas and bonds inside polyester fibers. The result is soft, breathable colour that never cracks, making it perfect for custom active wear, team jerseys, and lightweight hoodies for South Africa’s warm seasons.
Because the print becomes part of the garment, you can wash, stretch, and wear it daily. That is why sublimation shines for print on demand staples and long-lived uniforms.
- Zero hand-feel: ink lives inside the fabric, not on top
- Rich colour on light poly and tri-blends; best on white or light bases
- No extra weight, ideal for performance tees and running vests
Choosing the right blanks
We test every new blank before it joins our sublimation shelf. For Cape Town makers, we keep moisture-wicking tees, poly hoodies, and soft-touch drinkware sleeves ready to go so your merch arrives comfortable from day one.
Need mixed items? We can pair sublimated tees with DTF transfers on cotton hoodies in the same colour story, giving you a balanced capsule across fabrics.
- Best results: 65–100% polyester garments in white or pastel shades
- Avoid: heavy cotton (ink will wash out) and dark bases (colour dulls)
- Extras: matching headwear and buff-style neckwear by request
File setup that keeps colour true
Start with 300 DPI art at print size. Use vector logos where possible and keep fine lines above 0.5 pt. We run colour-managed profiles tuned to our inks, so CMYK values land consistently across reorders for branded merchandise.
If you are designing promotional products or personalized gifts, ask us for safe areas so critical text avoids seams and drawcords.
- Provide RGB or CMYK with embedded profiles; we convert to our ICC preset
- Allow 3–5 mm bleed on all-over patterns to avoid white edges
- Test small: we can press a single proof before the full run
Sublimation vs DTF vs HTV
Pick sublimation when you need featherweight garments with all-over colour. It beats HTV vinyl for breathability and beats DTF on moisture-wicking poly where you want zero texture.
Choose DTF printing for dark cotton, mixed-fabric workwear, or when you need high-opacity whites. Keep HTV vinyl for small personalization runs or specialty finishes like metallic.
- Sublimation: best for poly performance and full-colour patterns
- DTF: best for dark cotton and quick-turn custom apparel
- HTV vinyl: best for names, numbers, and low-quantity personalization
Ordering and turnaround
Most sublimation jobs finish in 3–6 business days once art is approved. For seasonal merch drops, we can stage artwork and blanks ahead of time so reorders ship faster.
Tell us if your merch needs to align with an event in Cape Town or Milnerton; we will schedule press time to keep your delivery on track.
- Minimums: efficient from 20 units; mixed sizes welcome
- Finishing: swing tags, folding, and size stickers available
- Shipping: national delivery with tracking across South Africa
