AI (Adobe Illustrator): Best for logos and text
EPS: Universal vector format
PDF: Vector-based PDFs with embedded fonts
SVG: Web-friendly vector format

Vector files scale infinitely without quality loss. Perfect for logos, text, and simple graphics.

Raster Files

PNG: With transparent background (300 DPI minimum)
JPG/JPEG: High quality, 300 DPI minimum
PDF: Raster-based PDFs at 300 DPI

Raster files work for photos and complex graphics. Must be high resolution (300 DPI) at print size.

Resolution Requirements

Minimum Resolution: 300 DPI

All raster images must be at least 300 DPI (dots per inch) at the final print size. This ensures sharp, clear prints without pixelation. If your image is 6 inches wide, it should be at least 1800 pixels wide (6 x 300).

Tip:Check your image resolution before submitting. In Photoshop, go to Image > Image Size and ensure "Resolution" is set to 300 pixels/inch and the dimensions match your desired print size.

Design Guidelines

Text & Typography

Keep text above 6pt for legibility
Use bold, clear fonts for small text
Avoid hairline strokes (minimum 0.5pt)
Expand strokes in vector files to avoid haloing

Colours & Gradients

Use CMYK or RGB colour modes
For gradients, maintain 10-15% minimum tone
Provide Pantone codes for brand colours
Test gradients on dark vs light backgrounds

Bleed & Safe Areas

Add 3-5mm bleed for all-over prints
Keep critical text 5mm from edges
Avoid important elements near seams
Account for drawcords and zippers

Transparency & Backgrounds

Use transparent backgrounds (PNG) when possible
Remove white backgrounds for clean edges
Flatten layers before exporting
Check for hidden white boxes or frames

Print Method Specific Guidelines

DTF Printing

Works best with vector logos and high-resolution images
Expand strokes to avoid haloing on dark garments
Include 1-2mm safe area inside edges
Provide artwork with trapped edges for dark garments
Share fabric details (cotton vs poly) for optimal settings

Sublimation

Best for all-over prints and full-colour patterns
Allow 3-5mm bleed on all sides for seamless edges
Use RGB or CMYK with embedded colour profiles
Design for white or light-coloured bases
Test small details to ensure they translate well

HTV Vinyl

Vector art with expanded strokes (avoid hairline gaps)
Simple designs work best (names, numbers, logos)
Keep text above 6pt for clean weeding
Avoid very fine details that are hard to weed
Consider vinyl type when designing (matte, glossy, metallic)

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Submitting low-resolution images (below 300 DPI)
Using web images (72 DPI) for printing
Forgetting to expand strokes in vector files
Placing critical text too close to edges
Not providing transparent backgrounds when needed
Using RGB-only colours without CMYK conversion
Including hidden layers or unnecessary elements
Not checking for white boxes or frames
